Depending on the needle diameter, the corresponding hand sewing thread fits.
For example, needle size 5 and 3 fit perfectly with thread thickness 0.6 mm; size 1 with thread thickness 0.8 mm; size 4/0 suitable for thread thickness 1.2 mm, size 7 suitable for thread thickness 0.3 mm.
Size 3 fits for 0.8mm flat form. Round thread can no longer be threaded. It is approximately the same as size 5, just longer.
