3D-Printed PLA Snap Buckles

3D-printed snap buckles made from corn-based PLA — a plant-based bioplastic produced in the EU. The PLA used for these buckles is made from renewable plant-based feedstock, is recyclable through appropriate PLA recycling streams, and is compostable in industrial composting facilities under suitable conditions.

Designed as a practical alternative to conventional plastic buckles, they combine lightweight construction with tested mechanical performance and are suitable for a range of applications.

Certified Tensile Load Testing

The snap buckles have undergone certified tensile testing, evaluating their performance under static and sustained loading.

20 mm: maximum tested load 104.34 kgf (approx. 1,023 N)
25 mm: maximum tested load 105.88 kgf (approx. 1,038 N)
32 mm: maximum tested load 119.35 kgf (approx. 1,171 N)
Recorded tensile stress: 35 MPa

These figures represent the loads and tensile stress recorded during the certified test and should be considered in relation to the specific buckle design, printing parameters and intended application.
